OEM vs Aftermarket: Why the Origin of a Mobile Part Determines Its Bulk Price
When selling spare parts in bulk, the distinction between OEM pulls, OEM-spec aftermarket, and generic components is the single biggest driver of price variation. Here is what buyers look for.

The Three Tiers of Mobile Parts
In the bulk mobile parts trade, components are broadly categorised into three tiers — each with distinct pricing, demand, and end-market destinations.
Tier 1: OEM Pull Parts
OEM pull parts are components extracted from original devices — genuine Apple, Samsung, or Huawei components removed from working or BER units. These parts carry the original manufacturer's specifications, calibration, and quality. For iPhones in particular, OEM pull screens retain True Tone calibration data tied to the device, making them the most valuable category for repair use. Buyers pay a premium for verified OEM pulls.
Tier 2: OEM-Spec Aftermarket
High-grade aftermarket components manufactured to OEM specifications — also called 'hard OLED' or 'Grade A aftermarket' in the screen trade. These parts are produced by third-party manufacturers using high-quality panels and components. They are widely used in the professional repair market and command strong prices, though below genuine OEM pulls.
Tier 3: Generic Aftermarket
Lower-cost components with variable quality. These are used primarily in budget repair markets. Bulk buyers purchasing for redistribution to repair networks in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East actively buy this tier, but at significantly lower per-unit values.
Declaring Part Origin in Your Stocklist
When sending a parts stocklist to HK Saitong, always declare part origin clearly: OEM Pull, Grade A Aftermarket, or Generic. Also include whether parts are tested or untested, and whether screen assemblies include frames. Accurate declaration leads to faster pricing and avoids renegotiation on delivery. Send your stocklist via WhatsApp for a same-day quote.
